An Example :

There was a man living on the bank of the Narmada river.

The rains had ended and there was the beginning of the winters.

The winds were cool and pleasant, and had begun to pinch a bit.

In the early morning he felt a shiver.

At once to him came a thought how to deal with the changing weather. This was  बुद्धि - a simple thought, that split his प्रतीति the perception into the  प्रतीत्य - the object of perception and the स्व / the "self", and at once this perception gave rise to the dichotomy between the self and the object perceived in the mind.

The mind itself assumed two forms and both appeared to have their own and independent existence.

The self, the subject of perception became the dominant and the other - the object of perception, - relatively less important.

The self assumed the form the doer, the experiencer, the enjoyer and the sufferer  - The one who appears to do / perform an activity, who goes through the experience, who enjoys and suffers, and the owner of the memory or the whole information. That is how the sense of being "I" the individual came in existence.

The sum total of all known happenings as events, either the experience, the feelings, the sentiments, the memory attached with this independent one, appeared as the observed while the one the predominant sense of being "I", - the "self" in the objective world, - other than the "self".

Then the drama started and the "self" became the victim of the ignorance and the illusion.

This very"self" is the "individual".

With the emergence of Thought, all this entire phenomenal world appeared in no time.

For Time is / was the Thought itself.
