What is Life and What is Death?
Answer :
You sow a seed that looks like the potential Life, waiting for the right soil, climate and conditions to sprout forth. It is alive, and not dead, but could die in conditions severe and harsh. Then it would sprout no more, would turn into dead earth. From the seed is born a tree or a plant and lives a Life that you see as the movement of the Life that is ever so new, never old, but new every moment. This is the Life individual.
This is the Life that has a beginning and end, confined within a Time-frame. Never knows when it came into being. This is thee Life individual and it can never know when the end comes. There is also another Life that has neither beginning nor the end, free from this time-frame. This Life has no reference of Time. This enormously, tremendously vast and big Life is beyond the reach of mind. We may therefore call it "Timeless".
The Life that has a beginning and an end is the individual. This Life, the individual with a beginning and an end is a phenomenon, a process, but the Life without beginning and with no end is far more, tremendously big and vast quite another process, is never an individual phenomenon.
As long as mind is captivated by the thought of the presumed past and by an imagination of the hypothetical future, cannit be free of itself, and in this way can neither go beyond / "transcend", nor it could be free itself from this Psychological Time.
It may however think, talk endlessly about going beyond, but is still limited within the periphery of the supposed / presumed Time.
This supposed / presumed Time is what the thinker believes to be the individual's Life.
The Thought is the product of Time, while the Thinker is a by-product only.
The same and simple truth has been vividly expressed in the following मंत्र / mantra :
अक्षरात्सञ्जायते कालः कालाद् व्यापकः उच्यते।।
Born of The One Indestructible Whole Spirit -Imperishable, Time takes place as assumed apparent existence and pervades as "Space" within the perception of the "One Knower", The One And Unique Reality"
Time and Space Thus appear to exist but in Reality, it is all an illusion mind-made.
Then comes up the individual, the Thought and the "Thinker". Then the Ignorance and the relative knowledge appear / disappear.
Still one can purge out / chuck out all this presumed past and pre-postulated future, and come upon the imminent Present. This emptying the mind is in fact the elimination of all past and future. Then one can see how the other Life is beyond the birth, death and the life of the individual.
The phenomenon is the image of the world in the mind of the individual, where within that image, there is yet another very tiny but very strong another individual image of one-self also. This individual mind is thus split / torn between the two images, is never sure exactly Who one is!
For the simple reason that one is inevitably and always conscious of either the world or oneself or both mixed up at the same time, within one-another.
Along-with the elimination of the supposed past and imaginary future, it is discovered, what is the Life as an ocean, where the life of the individual is but a tiny ripple that rises up and gets lost in the momentary Time.
The mixed-up state of mind assumes a name and a body, - a person, which one thinks and believes, - one is.
So this movement of the Life, which is at one level a process, and a phenomenon and also at another level constitute the one whole.
